How to Profit From Owning a House?

Nowadays the majority homeowners are suffering because our house value is shrinking gradually. It is quite depressing. Fortunately selling your house is not the only way you can profit from owning a house. There are many different ways that you can make money from being a home owner. I believe in when time gets tough, we need to be tougher and more creative to face our challenges. Here are some money making ideas to help out with your mortgage payments.

1. Rent out a room. If you have an extra bedroom, take in a roommate. In my area you can get anywhere from $350 to $450 a month, it all depends on all how big is the room and your property location. The best roommate to take in would be someone who is compatible with your family value and schedule, so that you will be comfrotable with your roommate being around. All you need to do to get a roommate is to advertise on your local classified ads or on www.craigslist.com

2. Take in a foreign student. Foreign students need a family friendly place to stay, where hot meals are prepared, transportation needs are met, companionships are available. They are far away from their homes, where they don't know anyone, so you have to keep in mind that they will be with you a lot. On the other hand, the more service you are willing to provide the higher paid you will get. A friend of mine treats her foreign student renter just like her own kid and gets paid $1,000 a month. It is quite lucative for the things you have to do for your family members already.
Contact your local universities for this opportunity.

3. Rent out your storage space. If you have an unfinished space that is left unsed (like your basement), rent it out for cash. How much you will get depend on how big is your storage space. Call your local storage companies and get an idea on your income. Place an ad on your local classified to let your potential customers know about your service.

4. Rent out your parking space. Do you have a 3 car garage or a RV parking spot that is left unused? I have a 3 car garage but I only own 2 cars, so I rent out my third space to my neighbor to store his antique car for $100 a month. He likes the convenience of being able to drive his car whenever he wants, and I like the extra cash that I am getting for no extra work.

5. Rent out your entertainment space. Do you have a theatre room or a large living area that you can turn into an entertainment area? How about a swimming pool in your backyard? Last year my friend hosted a big swimming pool party at her neighbor's house for $75 only, she invited about 50 guests including her neighbors and everyone had a great time. People are having parties everyday, your money making opportunities are endless. Advertise about your service on your local classified ads.

6. Rent out your drive way for garage sales. Do you live in a high traffic area? The more traffic a garage sale gets, the more income one will generate. My sister lives in an area that no one can easily find her, so she drove to a busy area and asked to rent a home owner's drive way for $30 for a few hours. She sold all of her items and the owner makes money without lifting a finger. What a win win situation.

7. Rent out your property. Is it legal to have horses on your property? Many horse lovers need a place for their horses to stay. It took my sister-in-law a few months to find an affordable place for her horse to stay. She is paying $450 a month for her horse to stay on a 2 acres property along with 7 other horses, and hay is included in the rent. It sounds like an easy and profitable business.

8. Rent out your office space. Do you have an unused office space set up along with a fast internet connection? Rent it out to someone who needs an office space. My brother-in-law is a business owner, and his kids won't leave him alone when he works at home. His solution is to rent an office space at a neighbor's house for $400 a month, he likes it because it is within walking distance and he can concentrate on his work.

9. Run a home-based business and get tax deduction. There are many home-based businesses that you can start like day care, pre-school, before & after school care, tutoring, blogging, and so many more. It all depends on your interests and skills. The best thing about having a home-based business is getting a portion of your home as a tax deduction, which means putting more money in your pocket.
